The Tuberculosis vaccine is a live attenuated (removed pathogenicity) strain derived from Mycobacterium bovis. This allows you body to develop an immunity to M. bovis, which is highly similar to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative bacterium of Tuberculosis. So basically you are injected with a harmless bacterium which is highly similar to the harmful one your try to vaccinate against. This allows your body to develop defenses for this bacterium, and will increase the response time and power upon exposure to the bacterium
