It will probably be a negative test after six months or a year. Good luck.
2 :
3 years
3 :
waivers can take 6 months before they come back yay or nay. No lie.
4 :
As long as you Test Positive... you will not get a waiver... As TB is a extremely bad communicable disease...
5 :
Most Filippinos test positive for TB. Once they review your cheat X ray and see you don't have it they will medically clear you. It takes 1-3 weeks to get reviewed once the doctor has the x ray in hand

How dangerous is tuberculosis

How dangerous is tuberculosis?
How dangerous is tuberculosis? How much treatment does it involve? Exactly how serious is it?

1 :
Its a slowly progressive infection but its treatable. Most treatments require 3 different drugs at least to start with (the bug becomes resistant if only one is used). The treatment needs to be taken for longer than most infections. (about 6 months but this varies) It becomes serious if untreated
2 :
As a health care worker and as a nursing student, I have to prove I don't have active TB. TB is caused by bacteria and antibiotics are given. However, there are some antibiotic resistant strains of TB out there. TB is dangerous, especially to the elderly and sick.
3 :
TB does different things to different people. it really depends on your immune systems ability to combat the disease and usually in the majority of people this is not a problem unless the person has some underlying diseases eg AIDS/HIV. Most people lead healthy lives and still carry the TB disease whilst others may have 1 or 2 complications along the way. Currently TB is treatable with a strict antibiotic dosage which the person must take in order to prevent the bacteria from developing antibiotic resistance. the thing with Tb is that it is very contagious and so your physician may want to check who is infected within a family and who is a t risk of infection. Around 2 billion people world wide are estimated to be infected with the TB pathogen (roughly 1/3 of the worlds population) so the effort to develop new drugs for the disease are perhaps at the forefront of modern medicine. So personally i wouldnt say TB is the most serious problem facing todays society, but it would have to be the most widespread disease. recently i read an article which stated that new compounds have been discovered that combat the bacterias defense mechanism- its an interesting read. il post the link for you

How contagious is tuberculosis

How contagious is tuberculosis?
I was diagnosed with tuberculosis on Thursday. I started taking medication for it on Friday. I have to stay home for 14 days until the medication kicks in and makes my disease less contagious. But my question is this: Will it be safe for my wife to continue to teach her class of 3 year old children? She's with them for about an hour and a half each day.

Most contagious disease on earth!
2 :
You are required to get a shot for that. She and kids should be protected from of since they have the shot. If they don't have the shot they shouldn't be at school.
3 :
What did the doctor say? She probably needs a TB test first and foremost. Then she needs to ask the doctor when both of you are not infectious anymore. The bacteria is contagious, but mostly when it is airborne when coughing, and sputum is emitted, which can contaminate surfaces or surrounding air with microscopic droplets.
4 :
If your wife has been tested and shown to be negative for TB then it will be alright for her to continue to teach. She will have to get a test and maybe an xray though. If she is positive for latent TB, she may have to take medicine. Sometimes it's up the the school, what they require for people exposed to TB. Sometimes they require her to take the meds for a particular amount of time. I am in the US where we do not routinely vaccinate against TB

How bad is tuberculosis stage 4

How bad is tuberculosis stage 4?
Does anyone know how bad tuberculosis stage 4 is? Is it curable or not?

It's very advanced. The problem these days is the antibiotic resistance that has developed in the community. So antibiotics that worked 20 years ago don't any more. Increasingly, surgery and removal of the affected area is being done to remove the disease. So we're back to the 1940's. If you have it and don't know the treatment options, then you need to have a loooong talk with your doctor

How easy is it for Tuberculosis to transfer from fish to humans

How easy is it for Tuberculosis to transfer from fish to humans?

Fish - 4 Answers

1 :
Not very. The only way is if you directly handle a fish with ulcers and you have open cuts on your hands. Even then, it's not very contagious. Otherwise, it's practically impossible. It's still better to be safe, and use gloves when handling the fish, and then wash your hands well and sterilize anything that the fish came in contact with while infected.
2 :
It's actually not hard at all. Open cuts, scrapes, even just the skin. However, the chances of it becoming bad are remote. If you've ever been swimming in a pond, lake, river chances are you've been exposed. A swimming pool that isn't properly chlorinated will also have a high chance of exposing you to it. They even have a name for it. Swimming pool granuloma. Unless you have a compromised immune system, you have a 99% chance of fighting off the infection without any need for medical attention. Most people will just get a little red bump on their skin that will be a bit tender, but will go away in a day or two. Having open cuts, scrapes, or punctures increases the odds of a serious infection though. So wash your hands if you do. It's a slow growing bacteria so if you do get a small irritated bump that lasts more than a week, you may want to get it checked out and be sure to mention you have an aquarium. The test for it is complicated and half the time the results are inconclusive but there are more simple tests that can be done to determine if it's an acid fast mycobacterium, which fish TB is.
3 :
It's actually quite rare (in an aquarium situation, I mean). However, it is one of the few diseases that have been documented to have spread from an aquarium to a human. Again, though, there are only a few recorded cases of this in the history of the world. Wash your hands before and after putting them in your tank (with plain water before, and with water and soap afterward), and don't put a hand with an open wound in the water, and you won't have much to worry about.
4 :
Tuberculosis in the aquarium isn't very common, but if it IS present, it can transfer pretty easily if you place a hand with open cuts or wounds in the tank. I had a coworker get it from scrubbing a tank while he had a cat scratch on his hand. Just be smart and wash your hands after doing anything in the tank, and avoid putting your hand in the tank if you have any open wounds

the afflicted were kept apart from people and encouraged to rest and get lots of sunshine and fresh air. There were no medications for TB then.

Opium, morphine, and quinine were used by camp doctors and nurses to deal with a wide variety of different medical problems. It was commonly believed that wearing a flannel bans around the waist under the shirt would prevent disease
