got to doctor i dont think it is though
3 :
You need to see a doctor NOW. It could be worse than TB. In that case the earlier you go the better.
4 :
maybe, go to the doctor
5 :
i dnt think so, plz consult doctor becoz here u cant the right answer.
6 :
Highly and I mean HIGHLY doubt it. Go to your doc so you can find out the REAL problem.
7 :
well, it's definitely a possibility.
8 :
The typical symptoms of tuberculosis are a chronic cough with blood-tinged sputum, fever, night sweats, and weight loss. Infection of other organs causes a wide range of symptoms.
9 :
I would just go to the doctor and get a TB test, they don't hurt at all and it's good just to know. The doctor may also think it's something else and test you for other things. Better be safe than sorry. It's highly likely you do not have TB, you could have like a gastritis or something with your stomach or bowels. Just a good thing to go and check out, could be nothing.
10 :
fstly go to the doctor ,yes could be ,god bless you, takecare of your health
11 :
Please go and speak to a Dr, Ravii. All they will do is firstly give you a chest X-ray and also test your your sputum. This is not good for someone your age and there has to be a reason behind your symptoms. Good Luck and Good Health Too.
12 :
Ravii tell ur parents and go doctors please hunni
13 :
My dear Ravii, I am sorry that you have been suffering so much. But, I dont think its TB. One cardinal symptom of TB is moderate temperature towards the evening with sweating which you either did not notice or do not have. However, abdominal pain, loss of appetite and loss of weight can be for one of several reasons in your age. This calls for a complete physical . Again blood in saliva could even be due to gum disease. In Tuberculosis, the bloody (and frothy looking) sputum arises only after coughing (haemoptysis). So no alarm bells! I will urge you greatly to visit your primary care physician as early as possible, especially before making any long trips. Also PLEASE get a GOOD INSURANCE before making a long foreign trip. Medical expenses in some countries especially the one I live in can be a HUGE problem otherwise. your Rehman bhai

If a person was successfully treated for Tuberculosis, could the disease come back

If a person was successfully treated for Tuberculosis, could the disease come back?
the person took their tb antiobiotics as prescribed for six months. Ms. Nurse, perhaps I could have worded my question differently but I'm sure you understand what I'm saying. I'm going to assume you have no answer.

If the treatment were successful, how could TB "come back"?? You've contradicted yourself.
2 :
i think you can contract it again:TB is not like some illnesses(chicken pox) that if you had it once, you become immune to it. I had chicken pox, mumps and all childhood illnesses. TB is unfortunately can be contracted at another time(its a bacteria, not a virus)
3 :
In the terms of treatment, the sickness is being subsided from its complications. Treated and cured is two different meanings. So to answer your question, it could come back if it was treated

TB is extremely contagious. If you have been exposed, please go for a skin test............
2 :
go get a PPD test and an x-ray..oh, and be careful who you kick it with.. And about getting it, if you go to walmart, you've been exposed.. its a spore and can live forever outside the body

Does anyone know if tuberculosis can be genetically inherited, say from a parent to a child

Does anyone know if tuberculosis can be genetically inherited, say from a parent to a child?
My dad has two spots on his lungs and was told by one of his doctors that since his mother died from TB and his brother had a mild case that he could have it also. We're waiting for his biopsy results. I thought TB was contagious through airborne only.

TB cannot be genetically inherited. The best explanation I could give for the worry is that the bacteria that cause the disease can lay latent in the lungs for a long period of time, and can be spread to others in this time. So your uncle may have caught it when he was younger, and if your father has it, so may he. I remember my dad had TB when he was a teenager, and he's old (so it had been over 40 years), and my mom and I had to get tested for it.
2 :
Tuberculosis cannot be inherited. It is caused by the gram-positive acid-fast bacilli Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is a bacterial infection, not a genetic disease. You can, however, be genetically predisposed to developing tuberculosis, but you cannot inherit the disease itself. Your genes make you more or less susceptible to it, but do not cause it.
3 :
YES!
4 :
I believe you be correct but it is logical for the doc to deduct that if family members also had the "disease" that your dad also frequented the locations ( home, etc ) and was in reasonable close contact with other sufferers ( such as the other family members ) when they might have simply passed it on during one of these encounters, not being an expert but I do know that TB can sit quite a while before it becomes apparent especially in an otherwise healthy adult, elderly and childeren be more prone if I rember correctly when I woz being screened myself for TB when off in them foreign lands, therefore he could possibly have "inhereted" it from family but airbourn not by genes. Hope your da be OK !!
5 :
He's probably had inactive TB for a long time. Like me. I'm inactive. It just means that when I have a TB test it's positive. I have been exposed to the live bacterium. It can remain inactive forever. I may never in my lifetime go active. Do you know if your Dad ever had the skin test done after his mother died and after his brother recovered? I used to know the statistics but I've forgotten. It's a really small percentage of us who go active. Your Dad wasn't so lucky. Neither was my mother. She was inactive until her breast cancer and then poof, she had both. I'm really sorry. Google inactive TB for more information. Good luck with the biopsy! All of my prayers, T
6 :
It cannot be inherited. It is contagious but can be treated. The disease is caused by Mycobacterium tuberulosis or Tubercle bacilli (TB). TB is an aerobic microorganism which means it can live in air, it can enter your lungs and eventually when your immune system is weak it can cause you TB. A TB patient has to be isolated from the rest of the family to avoid spreading of the disease from one family member to another. Treatment should be taken religiously for 6 months to avoid recurrence of the disease. Good luck

if u have a bump after a tuberculosis test does it mean u have tuberculosis

if u have a bump after a tuberculosis test does it mean u have tuberculosis?
my dad got a tuberculosis test yesterday and today he has a bump where they put the needle, does it mean he has tuberculosis?
Infectious Diseases - 11 Answers

??????
2 :
No it does not mean that he has tuberculosis. That is the virus. The nurse will tell you that there is supposed to be a bump and it will be absorbed into the skin if he doesn't have tuberculosis.
3 :
he should keep his app. to have it looked at (in two days)
4 :
No it doesnt. You will have a bump right afterwards. You have to check three days later. If the bump is still there, then yes he has TB. If it is gone, which is the case most times, then he doesnt. But to be more specific, you will have the bump for a day or so no matter what. It is the third day that you need to watch for
5 :
He might have an allergic reaction to the needle because when i had surgery on my leg i had an allergic reaction maybe he should just go to the doctor and get it checked out
6 :
it sounds as if he's had a positive reaction to the turburculin solution...what will happen is he will go in and have the centimeters read..under so many..no problem..over so many than he will go have a chest x-ray and if nothing shows up and then he will have to take a combination of two medicines for about 6 months..no biggie, if he had tb than he would be very ill...latent tb is when u have a reaction to the test because u have been exposed to tb somewhere in your lifetime..does not make u contagious or sick..The pills kill the bacteria, but it can be hard on the liver and he will have to go in like every other month to talk with a nurse to be sure there is no problems..i had a tb test and had a 15 cm reaction.negative chest x-ray and a combo of 2 pills for about 6 mos..also he will be given a card and paper stating that there is no contagion and is ok to work..he will not be able to take another skin test if it is positive because it will always show up pos..the only way to test is by x-ray from then on
7 :
its only if the raised area stays raised. when you go back the day for injection, if its still raised then it means that you have been in contact with tb at sometime and therefore dont need any more antibodies dont worry
8 :
If the bump is still there when he is scheduled to go back, it does NOT mean he has TB. It means he has been exposed to TB. More testing would then be done to see if he has an active inflammation.
9 :
No. It is a normal thing with a TB test. A regular skin bump is usually n ormal. 2-3 ldays after the test, a raised red bump means that there most likely has been some TB infection at some time in his life. It does not mean he has it currently. Read the web site, it will explain!
10 :
NO! The test isnt done until 72 hours has passed. It should be checked by nurse or dr. who gave it. If there is a bump and red area it only means you were exposed to someone with T.B.. you would then get a chest xray to see if you have active t.b.If so you need to take meds. for 1yr. or so. good wishes
11 :
its what you call tuberculin test. nope if lump is there or the diameter is big is doesn't mean that you have tuberculosis. there are more specific test that the tuberculosis test. 1. X-Ray although its inconclusive but it will give a good picture of your lungs (negative not colored!) 2. if X-ray has findings or positive for scars for 3 straight days you have to submit an early morning sputum for AFB -acid fast bacilli tets. this is the gold standard for tuberculosis in medicine Mycobacterium tuberculin also check your fathers sputum/phlegm if its green or red. most likely he has TB
