not really... but it could mean that.. i would wait until he had it checked by a nurse to start freaking out..
2 :
If he has a bump, he is probably positive. Any size bump is a positive result, especially if it's reddish. He will go back in 48-72 hours for the doctor to look at it - so don't worry yet. But I know that a negative result is completely flat. If he DOES have TB, he will take medication for 9 months, and he will test positive for the rest of his life, even if the disease will be completely out of his system - a bump is not a normal reaction to a TB test, and if he has a bump after one day, chances are that it will get bigger in the next 2 days when he will have to go back to the doctor.
3 :
nope. unless the bump is more than an inch in diameter it is a completely normal reaction to the test.
4 :
not necessarily because u could have got water around it or something. Dont Worry. ur probably o.k!!!!!!!
5 :
Not necessarily. A person can have a positive Mantoux test but not have tuberculosis. If a person was exposed but didn't develop an active case of the disease their body would still react to the antigen in the test. However, he might have tuberculosis. Wait until the spot is checked by a medical professional. They will measure the size of the spot and how much it is raised up from the surrounding skin to decide if he has a positive test. If he does, then further testing will be indicated to see if he requires treatment

How Does TB Spread? All types of TB (see “Drug-resistant TB” below) are spread the same way. TB germs are put into the air when a person with TB disease of the lungs or throat coughs, sneezes, speaks, or sings. These germs can float in the air for several hours, depending on the environment. Persons who breathe in air containing these TB germs can become infected.TB is not spread by: * Shaking someone's hand * Sharing food or drink * Touching bed linens or toilet seats * Sharing tooth brushes * Kissing * Smoking or sharing cigarettes
3 :
If you've been exposed to active tuberculosis, then anyone you're intimate with should be tested. Your parents will get information from the doctor's office or the Health Department if he is positive so you'll have solid info on who should be tested. Tuberculosis can settle in many places in the body, not just the lungs, but can be treated successfully now. Be aware it's very possible to get a false positive on a TB test.
4 :
While it cannot be spread via kissing, per se, it is passed by breathing the same air as an infected person. You need to get tested, though the chances of you having active TB (and therefore able to transmit it) are low so you shouldn't be spreading the plague

Can I safely get a tuberculosis (mantoux) test while I am pregnant

Can I safely get a tuberculosis (mantoux) test while I am pregnant?
I am in the process of being hired for a new position and my new employer is requiring a tuberculosis test along with a regular physical. I am newly pregnant and do not want my new employer knowing just yet that I am pregnant. They will not accept the TB test I had in 2007 that was negative. Am I able to safely get a TB test while pregnant?

I've had to get a TB test every time I've been pregnant. My OB does the test. So, yes, it's safe

How had tuberculosis been virtually eradicated in this country

How had tuberculosis been virtually eradicated in this country?
I live in canada.. but i'm sure it's the same answer for the US. PLEASE help!

Tuberculosis (TB) has NOT been eradicated either in totality or nearly. It may appear to be so, because there is much more testing and better treatment for the disease. While the prevalence of the disease has been brought down, people who are infected with it are caught with it in earlier stages making treatment more effective. TB is still a virulent disease needing swift and long term treatment if you should happen to get it

considering they probably already have tuberculosis, chances are they won't be impressed... you have to eat babies in front of them... because as we all know, greeters are super old and eating a baby makes you younger...

what percentage of the world has tuberculosis

what percentage of the world has tuberculosis?

Sometimes statistics miss the mark in mass media. According to the World Health Organization TB report, the global average prevalence (number of existing cases) of TB cases was 229 per 100,000 in 2004. This is far less than 33,333! However, more than a third of the world's population live in high risk areas and probably have been "infected" with the bacillus that causes TB. Most of these people will not develop a disease, however. Source: http://www.who.int/tb/publications/global_report/2006/pdf/full_report.pdf

What is early signs/symptoms of tuberculosis

What is early signs/symptoms of tuberculosis?
I have a persistent cough but it only happens when I felt hot. Sometimes it also occurs during sleeping. I've had this about more than a month. I have no loss of my appetite and no loss weight too. I can eat a lot. But this cough really keep me in confuse because for sometime, i cough for the whole day. I've done the x-ray but nothing interesting in there. Have also a lot of kind of medicine

TB shows up on an X-ray. There is also a skin test that is real simple, the doc can do if you are worried about it. If the x ray is clear, that is usually a good sign. TB is rare why do you think it is that? It could be allergy or post nasal drip that brings the cough on when sleeping, it is hard to say. If you smoke anything, STOP.
2 :
Symptoms are: 1. Cough that is worse in the morning hours; hemoptysis (blood in the sputum) can accompany cough 2. Mild fever, headace, chills, night sweats 3. Chest pain from pleurisy 4. Breathlessness 5. Swollen glands 6. Feeling unwell, fatigue 7. Signs of pnemonia I think you dont have tuberculosis, maybe just an allergy on air thats why you cough when exposed to it. If you already consulted a doctor and still not getting well after taking his medicine prescription, then its time to change your doctor
3 :
Cough deep. Get sputum examined for Acid fast bacteria. That confirms T.B. Evening rise of temperature, dry cough, and loss of weight are other symptoms.
4 :
Please see the webpages for more details on Tuberculosis. Please consult a chest physician for second medical opinion.
5 :
It could be heat induced asthma
