How contagious is tuberculosis

How contagious is tuberculosis?
I was diagnosed with tuberculosis on Thursday. I started taking medication for it on Friday. I have to stay home for 14 days until the medication kicks in and makes my disease less contagious. But my question is this: Will it be safe for my wife to continue to teach her class of 3 year old children? She's with them for about an hour and a half each day.

Most contagious disease on earth!

You are required to get a shot for that. She and kids should be protected from of since they have the shot. If they don't have the shot they shouldn't be at school.

What did the doctor say? She probably needs a TB test first and foremost. Then she needs to ask the doctor when both of you are not infectious anymore. The bacteria is contagious, but mostly when it is airborne when coughing, and sputum is emitted, which can contaminate surfaces or surrounding air with microscopic droplets.

If your wife has been tested and shown to be negative for TB then it will be alright for her to continue to teach. She will have to get a test and maybe an xray though. If she is positive for latent TB, she may have to take medicine. Sometimes it's up the the school, what they require for people exposed to TB. Sometimes they require her to take the meds for a particular amount of time. I am in the US where we do not routinely vaccinate against TB
