A very close friend has been diagnosed with Latent Tuberculosis, what are the chances of my family&I having it
We just found out that he has Latent TB and he has been knowing for a couple of months already. He comes around a lot and my husband and I have a 3 year old son and he is around all 3 of us. What are the possibilities of us having the disease? If anyone has any knowledge on this topic, please help!

no, its ok! someone with latent TB cannot spread the disease, and does not have symptoms of the disease. you couldn't have caught it from him even if he coughed all over your house! :)

Fortunately, a person with latent TB cannot spread the infection. However, latent TB can become active, and then it can be spread. Your family will be safe as long as your friend stays away whenever he has a cough.

Latent TB is NOT contagious It means your body has been exposed to TB causing your immune system to contain it. It will stay contained unless something happens to cause your immune system to be compromised. He only has a 5% chance of ever developing the disease (active TB) in his lifetime. If he has HIV the chances go up to 10%. Most TB is not easy to catch anyway and usually is spread between people who have constant close contact like families
