No it does not mean that he has tuberculosis. That is the virus. The nurse will tell you that there is supposed to be a bump and it will be absorbed into the skin if he doesn't have tuberculosis.

he should keep his app. to have it looked at (in two days)

No it doesnt. You will have a bump right afterwards. You have to check three days later. If the bump is still there, then yes he has TB. If it is gone, which is the case most times, then he doesnt. But to be more specific, you will have the bump for a day or so no matter what. It is the third day that you need to watch for

He might have an allergic reaction to the needle because when i had surgery on my leg i had an allergic reaction maybe he should just go to the doctor and get it checked out

it sounds as if he's had a positive reaction to the turburculin solution...what will happen is he will go in and have the centimeters read..under so many..no problem..over so many than he will go have a chest x-ray and if nothing shows up and then he will have to take a combination of two medicines for about 6 months..no biggie, if he had tb than he would be very ill...latent tb is when u have a reaction to the test because u have been exposed to tb somewhere in your lifetime..does not make u contagious or sick..The pills kill the bacteria, but it can be hard on the liver and he will have to go in like every other month to talk with a nurse to be sure there is no problems..i had a tb test and had a 15 cm reaction.negative chest x-ray and a combo of 2 pills for about 6 mos..also he will be given a card and paper stating that there is no contagion and is ok to work..he will not be able to take another skin test if it is positive because it will always show up pos..the only way to test is by x-ray from then on

its only if the raised area stays raised. when you go back the day for injection, if its still raised then it means that you have been in contact with tb at sometime and therefore dont need any more antibodies dont worry

If the bump is still there when he is scheduled to go back, it does NOT mean he has TB. It means he has been exposed to TB. More testing would then be done to see if he has an active inflammation.

No. It is a normal thing with a TB test. A regular skin bump is usually n ormal. 2-3 ldays after the test, a raised red bump means that there most likely has been some TB infection at some time in his life. It does not mean he has it currently. Read the web site, it will explain!

NO! The test isnt done until 72 hours has passed. It should be checked by nurse or dr. who gave it. If there is a bump and red area it only means you were exposed to someone with T.B.. you would then get a chest xray to see if you have active t.b.If so you need to take meds. for 1yr. or so. good wishes

its what you call tuberculin test. nope if lump is there or the diameter is big is doesn't mean that you have tuberculosis. there are more specific test that the tuberculosis test. 1. X-Ray although its inconclusive but it will give a good picture of your lungs (negative not colored!) 2. if X-ray has findings or positive for scars for 3 straight days you have to submit an early morning sputum for AFB -acid fast bacilli tets. this is the gold standard for tuberculosis in medicine Mycobacterium tuberculin also check your fathers sputum/phlegm if its green or red. most likely he has TB
